Ustad Hotel Sulaimaani ~ Spiced Black Tea

Seriously speaking, I was in no plans to do any post today. I had already scheduled the post for tomorrow, InShaAllah and was planning to go ahead with it. But the climate today… A change from what it was over the last few days! We have had hot days but cozy nights and the fluctuation is wrecking havoc on everybody’s health, it looks. It has been on and off cloudy with hardly any rains. So yesterday evening, when I saw the thick clouds and the drizzle, I wasn’t expecting it to shower heavily. But He had other plans.

It rained heavily late night messing up all around the building.  My car is stuck in between a little pond. If I have to take it out, I have to push through it. On top, I woke up with a sprained neck, which isn’t really helpful. I had to take an off, albiet a bit unwillingly. The day at work after taking an off is pathetic. The mails to sort, the pendings, the calls, everything puts you off for the whole day. Anyway, you can’t turn around the events, right? Life goes on with a flow… 🙂

Since it is cozy, I thought why not post this mildly spiced suleimaani. I normally add only cardamom in mine. Are you intrigued by the name? If yes, then the recipe is inspired by a very iconic Malayalam movie, “Ustad Hotel”. I am not a movie watcher, I don’t have the patience for it, but since this movie primarily features food, I decided to watch it and loved it too… In the movie, there is a scene where the actor has his grandfather’s sulaimani and asks him what is added to it. The two spices he mentions is clove and bay leaf. Trust me, this is one sulaimani I have been making ever since. Cardamom alone my favourite but now this combination is vying for its space. 😉 Try out this combination next time you make your black tea… I bet you are going to love it! 🙂
